The Lawrence Public Library in Kansas shut down its library benefit sale in early September after bed bugs were discovered in donated products. The book sale, planned by the nonprofit group Friends of the Lawrence Public Library, was scheduled for late September at the Douglas County Fairgrounds. Owners of the Vintage Inn assisted living facility in Martin County, North Carolina, recently found out that bed bugs are more than just unwanted pests – they’re an unwanted expense.
