Is Wine the Next Bed Bug Repellant?

A new study from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln found that bed bugs may prefer hosts with a lower blood alcohol concentration (BAC). According to the study, the bugs preferred alcohol-free blood to blood with alcohol in it. The bugs were less likely to feast on blood with a higher BAC, because of the link between blood intake and lower reproduction rates. The World Choir Games are coming to Cincinnati this July. This means folks from all over the world will gather in the Queen City to experience a variety of musical performances. Northern Kentucky hotels will host many participants and patrons of the Games, but with a less-than-stellar record for bed bug free hotels, many are concerned about the Northern Kentucky accommodations. Bed Bugs Active in Northern Kentucky Hotels

Northern Kentucky hotels and motels are a popular place for bed bugs. According to the Cincinnati Enquirer, the Northern Kentucky Health Department reported 34 of the 64 hotels and motels in the area experienced bed bug issues within the last two years. Ohio officials believe increased use of public transportation and cultural diversity contributes to the increase of bed bug issues.
